Why Should I Get Involved?
At Talitha Arts, we are deeply committed to supporting those impacted by trauma through our bespoke therapeutic arts programmes. In 2025, we worked with young refugees, women in refuges, mental health hubs, and individuals living with dementia. We use the arts as a catalyst for positive change and freedom. While we are incredibly proud of our achievements last year, we strive to reach even more people. This is only possible with your support through funding and donations. You can make a significant difference today by signing up for our Walk for Wellbeing. Help us raise the funds we need to transform lives through the therapeutic arts.
How Long is the Walk?
The walk will take place along the beautiful Thames path, starting at Hampton Court Bridge at 10 AM. You can choose to walk either 4 mi (7 Km) to Teddington Lock or 18.6 mi (30 Km) to Twickenham. The shorter distance will take approximately 1-1.5 hours, while the longer one will take about 4-5 hours.
Are There Refreshments and Toilet Facilities Available?
Absolutely! Along the path, you will find many pubs, toilet stops, and coffee vans for everyone to use throughout the walk. We will also be stopping for lunch along the route. More information about this will be sent to all walkers as the event date approaches.
What Do I Need to Bring/Pack?
We encourage you to wear appropriate clothing and shoes for a long winter walk. Be prepared for rain, mud, or puddles. And don’t forget your wacky outfits! Please bring plenty of water, snacks, and food to keep you energized throughout the walk.
What If I Can't Make It to London or the Date?
If you can’t join us in London, you can still organize your own walk locally in your community to fundraise for Talitha. Whether you can join us on March 21st or not, we encourage you to sign up to fundraise and participate remotely. You are welcome to create your own unique walk in your area and still be part of the overall event. Send us photos and updates of your walk to keep us in the loop. If possible, we suggest having a first aid-trained individual or kit for larger groups. Please note that Talitha Arts cannot be held responsible for any remotely organized events.
What Do You Mean by Dress Wacky and Creative?
At Talitha, creativity and self-expression are at the heart of what we do. We encourage you to wear a wacky outfit that reflects your personality! This could be as simple as a hat or wig, or as extravagant as that old dinosaur costume you have buried at the bottom of your fancy dress box. Be as creative as you like! Just ensure that all outfits are non-offensive to the public we’ll be walking alongside. There will be a prize for the wackiest outfit of the day, including for our remote walkers. Just make sure to send us a photo at hello@talitha.org.uk. We hope our wacky outfits will help spread the word about Talitha and catch attention for our cause.
What Is the Minimum Amount to Raise and What Is a Good Target Goal?
The minimum amount to fundraise is £150, while the minimum target goal is £500. We encourage you to aim higher if you’re up for the challenge! Meeting the target goal of £500 enables us to put four individuals through a Talitha Arts programme. Additionally, every person who meets this goal will receive a Talitha Arts Garden butterfly from our ‘Best in Category’ Gold awarded 2023 Chelsea Flower Show Garden.
What If I Don’t Raise the Minimum Amount?
To make the most out of this fundraiser for Talitha Arts, we expect each individual to raise a minimum of £150. However, if you don’t quite reach that mark, you are still welcome to join us. Any funds raised for Talitha, large or small, will make a significant impact.
What If I Am a Slower Walker?
We will do our best to stay as a group throughout the walk. However, we understand that everyone has different paces. There will be several Talitha marshals along the route at various points (front, middle, and back) to ensure that every participant has a Talitha representative nearby at all times.
How Do I Raise Funds?
Our Big Give Arts for Impact is happening at the same time as the walk so if you want to share our page with friends and family any donations will be matched (until we reach £13,500). Just keep a note of your donations so you know if you've raised £500 to win a limited edition ceramic butterfly.
What If Someone Donates Cash or a Cheque to My Cause?
If someone donates cash or a cheque, you can cash it yourself and donate it to your online page. Alternatively, you can email jenny@talitha.org.uk for guidance on how to get it to us.
Will I Receive Anything for Completing the Walk?
Yes! Alongside bringing healing and freedom to survivors of trauma, there are many great incentives for joining the walk:
For raising the minimum goal of £500: A Talitha Arts Garden Butterfly
Prizes will be awarded on the day for:
- Wackiest Costume
- Most “Talitha” Costume
And for the person who raises the most money, there’s a special reward: a set of three Talitha Arts Garden Butterflies (small, medium, and large)!
What Do I Do After the Walk?
First, give yourself a huge pat on the back! Then, be sure to share your accomplishment with your supporters. On average, 20% of donations come in once a challenge is completed. So keep sharing your success post-walk on your page and with friends and family!
Together, let’s walk for wellbeing!
